Our filters for plasma treatment contain membranes that are developed and produced in Germany for these special applications. The FractioPlas19* cascade filter was developed specifically for LDL apheresis. The dry filter selectively depletes the plasma components. There is only a reduced need or no need for substitution fluid. EO-free, gamma sterilisation.

FRACTIOPLAS®19* – USE OF THE PRODUCT

Therapeutic apheresis includes various types of extracorporeal removal of harmful substances or therapeutically active components from the blood or blood plasma.  Today, new methods of treatment based on blood filtration enable new therapies for a wide range of patients and indications. One example is LDL apheresis, which eliminates the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol particle from the bloodstream in patients with familial hypercholesterolaemia. LDL cholesterol, which is referred to as "bad cholesterol," plays a role in the development of atherosclerosis.
It increases the risk of coronary disease, heart attack and even death. When conventional lipid-lowering treatment fails to reduce elevated LDL cholesterol to the desired level, LDL apheresis is a viable and effective option.

HOW IT WORKS - HEPARIN 2.0

  • The Seraph®100* weighing approx. 400 g contains polyethylene beads to which heparin is covalently bound.
  • The immobilised heparin is similar in structure to the glycocalyx on cell surfaces to which infectious pathogens also bind.
  • When blood flows through the adsorber, pathogens bind to the glycocalyx of cells due to the structural similarity of the heparin (biomimetics).
  • This irreversible binding resulting from biomimetics leads to a rapid and significant decrease (>99%) of pathogens present in the bloodstream.
  • The product is designed for low pressure drop operation at blood flow rates of up to 350 ml/min.

FRACTIOsmartTM* Small is indicated for IgD apheresis in the treatment of immunological diseases.

FRACTIOsmartTM* medium is indicated for immune complex and IgM apheresis.

FRACTIOsmartTM*Large is our suggested solution for LDL apheresis. LDL apheresis is a form of apheresis similar to dialysis to remove the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol particles from the bloodstream. It is used in the case of diseases with high LDL, such as the rare homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia, when the heterozygous form does not respond to drug treatment or if treatment has resulted in dangerous side effects (e.g., rhabdomyolysis).
